Summertime Spots for Tots

Summer is almost here! Like every mom, I’m ALWAYS looking for ways to entertain (read exhaust) Zara. She loves being outside and I rarely stop her.  I mean, she’s learning and I’m keeping my house clean (say what!)

The hunt for water activities is a little challenging right now, because I always look for two things: is it age appropriate for my 2-year-old and is it cost effective.

With those things in mind, I’ve compiled a mini list of places that I plan on frequenting this summer:

Hours: 5:00 am to 11:00 pm everyday

Cost: Free

If you follow me on Instagram, I can almost guarantee that you’ve seen us at this beach a time or two.  This is my go-to spot for summertime fun!

The beach is equipped with Splash Park, kayak & paddleboard rentals, and a handful of picnic pavilions. Soft sand and a handful of palm trees make you feel like you’ve travel a lot farther than this tiny Texas town. Zara loves it!

Hours: 2 pm – 6 pm (Monday – Friday) 1 pm – 6 pm (Saturday-Sunday)

Cost: Free

This is a great, zero depth play space.  It’s easy to grab coffee or a snack from the Steel City Pops cart and watch your littles play.  The only downside is the hours- definitely a post-nap hang.

Oh, and no bathing suits are allowed, so be sure to bring a towel and an extra set of clothes.

Hours: Monday-Friday 1-5 pm Saturday & Sunday: 12-7 pm
Cost: $3

While doing my waterpark recon, I stumbled across this little place.  We haven’t tried it yet, but at $3 a person, it’s definitely on my list. I’ll give you an update soon!

Hours: Tuesday & Thursday 8am-10am

Cost:  $10 for one, $5 for each addition child. Parents and guardians are free.

*Admission price is for the two hours. If you are wanting to stay at the waterpark once it opens at 10am, you can purchase a ticket, and you will only be charged the difference from what you have already paid.

This place is awesome! So many fun activities to do with your family and it’s open year-round! Epic Waters is a bit pricier if you have more than one child, but I love that they have time reserved for smaller children to play. It’s worth it!  Honestly, Zara was a bit overwhelmed by all of the people and water during the regular hours, making Toddler Time much more appealing!

Hours:  Monday-Friday 10am- 5pm Saturday & Sunday 10 am- 6 pm

Cost: $4 for zoo members (zoo admission plus $5 for non-members

If you live in Fort Worth, you probably are familiar with this little gem, nestled inside of the Fort Worth Zoo.  With small fountains, slides and puddles, this place is perfect for smaller kids.

Insider tip- another post-nap hangout! The Safari Splash Pad fills up quickly upon opening but slows down in the evening.  A great way to get those babies tired before bed!

Hours:  Times Vary. Check the website here.

Cost: 12 months and under- FREE

Under 48 inches- $8.00

48 inches and above- $8.50

This is another one I’ve yet to try, but it is super affordable and has a lot of wading areas for Zara to splash in.  The only downside- the hours are a bit sporadic. Be sure to check the website before planning a trip!

Not in the Fort Worth Area, check out this incredible list of FREE Splash Pads in DFW.

Where are your favorite summertime spots for tots? I’d love to visit them!
